Goodnight & Goodluck | April Fool's Day Virus

One last post before i turn off my computer and go study .... its 10: 29 pm by the way smh.

There seems to be some new April Fool's Day virus going around today that has attacked about 10 million Windows computers worldwide. The virus called Conflicker, striked many businesses and home PCs; including all the computers at my sisters job. =.[

I'm kinda paranoid though. I am not going to stay on the computer til midnight tonight because that is when experts speculate it will strike again.

And just so you know i'm not bluffing, i saw this all over the local news channels like Fox & ABC. So read the entire article about Conflicker over at, Guardian.co.uk

"Do It" - Keri Hilson

I'm not a huge Keri Hilson fan but she makes good music. Some of her songs are really catchy, like Return the Favor & Turnin Me On (i can't stand to listen Turnin Me On anymore tho) . With her debut album, In A Perfect World, I still have not been able to give it a fair listen and go through each song. So right now its just So-So for me. I'll have to listen to it again.
But, one thing is for sure, I really do love the track, "Do It" off her album. I was shocked when I read that initially it wasn't going to be on the album but luckily it became the bonus track.

Check it out =]

Music | Videos | Etc

The ever-so-sexy Trey Songz has recently been out and about promoting his new single, I Need A Girl, off his new album, Ready. But that song puts me to sleep, its too slow and ... idk i just can't get through it. However, I absolutely love Brand New, i've been bumping that song ever since it was leaked and I think many of his fans agree Brand New should definately be the song he promotes. So with that in mind, he has made a music video for the song. But i pray this is some cheesy, i only got one night in the club kind of promotional video. It looks cheap .... and there isn't much of anything going on except
1. Trey Songz shirtless
2. Video girls (-_-)
3. A bunch of celebrity cameos like, Jim Jones, Drake, DJ Khaled, that rapper .... something Lo (ughhh his name is not important but you will know who he is when you see him) & Fat Joe
4. Oh ... and Trey Songz tattooed body .... (i dont like his tattooes though, idk maybe it's me)
Watch it for yourself below :

Trey Songz - Brand New

Electric Field -MGMT
Now this song has been out for a while, but i recently heard it on the Hellz Bells website and i loved it. It's like techno / pop and it seems hip hop artist love it too. Jim Jones made a remix to this song back in December and most recently, JD has remixed it as well. I listened to both, not really feeling either but you can look for them on youtube. The original song is the best to me.

Twilight Movie Review |

^^^ ( this book is probably one of my all time favorites ) ^^^

I read Twilight wayyyyyyyyy before all the hype and hysteria surrounding the series, and i fell in love with it instantly. While reading the book, the thought of a movie being made from the series never even crossed my mind although it had all the potential to be a novel turned movie (ex: harry potter). However, i wish they never did make this movie. It was BAD. The acting was mediocre to say the least, they probably spent 20 dollars on all the special effects combined and the most crucial details about the characters were left out.

3 Things Gone Wrong with Twilight:

1. Good vampires in the movie are supposed to have golden eyes.... it's kinda important .....

^^ ( so where are the gold eyes??? he doesn't have gold eyes here ...... & actually he doesnt have gold eyes anywhere in the entire movie. smh ... just buy some cheap contacts for the actors it's not that hard people ) ^^

2. The cast (leads: bella & edward) suck on the basis that they have no acting experience, or at least not enough to bring out the two most important people in the series. They could have found ANYONE ... i mean ANYONE to play Bella better. But it seems like Kristen Stewart (Bella), was the one girl they auditioned who couldn't act and they decided "OMG she's perfect". She literally has no emotion and she sports the same "i dont really give" face throughtout the entire movie.

As for the Robert Pattinson (Edward), his acting skills were slightly better. He seemed to carry Kristen in most scences but in the end, he is just an average actor to me.

^^^ ( this was about as much chemistry you got from them in the entire movie .... not much going on is there? ) ^^^

3. Finally, just the fact that the movie now has so many fans and has become box office "gold" (its more like fool's gold), that means there is going to be 3 more installments with the same sucky cast and probably the same mistakes. Which also means i'll probably force myself to watch all of them in hopes of it getting better..... -_- ... idk.

Ughhhh ... overall, it was annoying to watch but honestly i expected it to be a hella lot worst. Out of 5 stars, i would give it a 3 .... maybe .... if i'm feeling generous.

-------------------------

On a brighter, more comedic note take a look at this funny video re-enacting the movie.

^^^ very funny ( esp if you watched the original )

"Walking on the Moon" - The Dream = Great Song

So you've probably already seen a lot of blogs posting the song, "Walking on the Moon" by The Dream & Kanye and either liked it, loved it, or really didnt give 2 cents about it. Well in my case, i was apart of the "i didn't give 2 cents about it" percentile because i was just SOOOO SICK of hearing The Dream's voice.

But I downloaded it anyway, so 2 days ago I fell asleep on the train and woke up just in time to hear Kanye's verse and I couldn't help but like it. Kanye sounds like the old Kanye, the Kanye from the College Dropout & Graduation days, before all the depression and emo-ness. I think The Dream should have just gave Kanye the beat and let him rhyme over it ... but sadly that is not the case. So everything from 2:54 and on in that song is on rewind on my mp3 player.

** & if your apart of that 1% who didn't already hear "Walking on the Moon", it can be found to the left of your screen on my music playlist =)

If my life was a movie, I would have the greatest movie soundtrack

Soooo i think it just hit me the other day that music is the 1 thing that keeps me going throughout day. When i really think about, i dont know what i would do if i didnt have my Sansa mp3 player at all times. I do hw, eat, watch tv, and fall asleep with music. I even give my life a soundtrack .... lol and it is not as crazy as it sounds because everyone does it. Like, your going to school or your job, and right before you get there you put on that "song" that just gets you hyped / depressed depending on your mood, and it just becomes your theme music! Well, i just take it a step further, I'll act like its a movie scene and make the simple moments seem like cinematic gold with the dramatic music and everything .... lol maybe i just have too much time on my hands

But anyways.... over the weekend my older sister gave me a list of songs to download from the 80s and 90s for her new ipod. And now I'm hooked. She had me listening to everything from En Vogue, Cher, Pat Benatar, Bonnie Tyler, Tina Turner, Karyn White, Maxi Priest and many more. In fact, I have a a whole new appreciation for some of the things she listens to, even though she's always complaining about how i listen to "garbage" (mainly because its rap). But i'll get her to come around sooner or later to my music.

If you are a fan of 80s/90s music (pop, reggae, alternative .... idk) here are a few i enjoyed:

Love is a Battlefield - Pat Benatar
We Belong Together - Pat Benatar
Total Eclipse of the Heart - Bonnie Tyler
Gypsies, Tramps & Thieves - Cher
So Close - Daryl Hall & John Oates
Last Dance - Donna Summers
Waitin on You - En Vogue
Don't Let Go - En Vogue
Night Nurse - Gregory Issac
I'm Not Your Superwoman - Karyn White
Wild World - Maxi Priest
Never Did Say Goodbye - Maxi Priest
Come On Over To My Place - Teddy Pendergrass

Music over Sex

Music over Sex.... yesssss as shocking as that may be to some of you, that is the answer many teens today are choosing, which i think is a good step in the right direction

Take a look at the article below:

Youth and Music Survey 2009
"Marrakesh Records and Human Capital will publish a survey of over 1,000 15-24 year olds exposing their listening habits and attitudes to music discovery. Summary highlights are as follows.
Music is hugely important to the age group. 60% of 16-24 year olds would rather go without sex than music for a week. This increases to 70% for 16-19 year olds.
Music consumption remains ubiquitous within the age group. 75% have watched a music video online in the last 3 months, 70% bought a CD, 62% listened to music on their mobile phone, 52% bought a music download and 45% played a music game on a games console."
You can read the full article here .... but technically only the first 2 paragraphs share any to this topic.
Pretty interesting though, don't you think??.....

Saturday Humor | Zahara's Angry Face | Dora the Whore-a | Iris "booty" Chacon

This week i've been super busy trying to balance school work, volunteering, studying for SATs and reading Breaking Dawn. (I LOVE THE TWILIGHT SERIES .... but i'll get into that another time). This is the first time i've been online this whole week, which is a huge accomplishment and sacrifice in it self. =.(
But yea, here are some random but funny things i ran into while doing a whole lot of nothing....
---------------
First up, is Mr. Pitt with his daughters Shiloh and Zahara. These pics were so funny to me because Zahara looks like she is gonna have to slap a b**tch up in here. I mean ..... what could possibly be on her mind that she looks so evil lol.... even with her shades the hate just radiates from her....she just might be one of those angry black women if she is not careful.

^^stank face^^
^^pimp hand is strong with this one^^

---------------
Did i mention i watched The Curious Case of Benjamin Button & i loved it. But the movie was approx an 1 hour longer than it needed to be.... the entire thing was 2 hours and 43 minutes long (-_- ).

--------------
Moving on ..... did you know that Dora the Explorer is getting a brand new look??? I didnt either until I saw it on the 10 o'clock news last night. Seems like Nick Jr. is going to give our exploradora a brand new teen based look .... smh .... they gonna make Dora into a whore or something around those lines. Parents are concerned about the image Dora is going to portray to their little ones but really I dont know what to think. Just take a look for yourself:

^^ From this^^

^^ To that^^

--------------

We can only hope that Dora doesnt act like Iris Chacon back in the day:

^^^(I can see the inspiration for Beyonce's new leotard, i-like-everything-jiggling-about look in this video.)

The "Good Black Man"

All my black ladies, (or gentlemen if thats how you like it) what things define a man as being a "good black man"????? At first, I never really put any thought into this but when I read this post from Brown Sugar 28, it really opened my eyes to what black culture now accepts from our men in order to be called a "Good Black Man". And honestly, what we accept is quite sad ..... take a look at an excerpt from the post:

"Usually the determination of a black man being “good” involves a combination of the following:

1. College educated
2. Not college educated but
3. Employed
4. Doesn’t have kids or
5. Has kids but takes care of them

If the man in question has any three of the five he’s deemed good and definitely marriageable and therefore worth holding on to for dear life.

But I’m with Chris Rock when it comes to this kind of thinking: When did we start giving brothers cookies for
doing what they’re supposed to do?

Last I checked any of the five above are minimum basic requirements. Those are just starting points where I might be willing to listen to your pitch as to why I should even think about giving you my number. And in my world, college educated is a must and it’s not good enough for you to just be employed. You need a career, not just a job.

Why, as black women, are we willing to accept so little. I know plenty of men who offer the bare minimum in the way of the five above, yet walk around like they’re the best thing since sliced bread; that I should be grateful that they took the time to bless me with their presence.

Yeah. Okay."

My Sunday w/ Braids

My Sunday was totally snatched from me when i decided i was going to go get my hair braided in box braids. Now, in the back of my mind i always knew my day was over from the moment i bought the hair... but still forrrrrrr some wierd, n crazy reason I thought "it won't be tooo long". I said to myself, "maybe it will only take 4 to 5 hours if i get there when she opens up her shop".

LOL at me because everyone else living in queens thought that same thought too. I got there at 10 am with my mom, mad hype and ready to get this process started. My mom parked about 3 stores away from our destination, and she is slowly making her way to the door when we see another woman and a girl (in her teens) walking quite briskly in that same direction. Now, it never occcured to me that they were probably going where I was going, but my mom being "ever-so-wise" got the drift immediatly. Out of no where she starts speed walking and dragging me along as well. O_o

However being that was so early in the morning, and my mind/body doesn't begin to function at full speed until at least 11:45 am on weekends, so my only intention was to get her to slow down. Likewise, my laziness led to the other people making it to the shop first where I also encountered 2 other ladies waiting to get their hair braided as well.............. Soooo in all I had 4 people ahead of me to get their hair done before i was even to be looked at. AND to top it off, i wanted box braids which take forever and year

I got home at 6:30 pm and my head was sore.... but in the end it was worth it. No more getting up early trying to do my hair. Its as easy as oil, mousse and go.

I'll put pics of my hair up later .... =D
